一. 教学对象:
本大纲的教学对象是非英语专业的职高学生。入校时,他们应已掌握基本的英语语音和语法知识,领会式掌握1800个单词(其中复用式掌握的单词为1200个),并在读、听、说等方面受过初步训练。
二. 课程基本目的:
能读懂语言难度中等的一般性题材的文章,学会基本的阅读技能。全面提高学生的听,说,读,写,译的基本技能的陪养。使各种语言技能综合发展,相辅相成,互相促进。使学生打下扎实的语言基础,掌握良好的语言学习方法,提高文化素质,以适应社会发展和经济建设的需要。
三. 教学方式:
教学方式是以课堂教学为主。课堂教学不仅要扩大学生的语言知识,加强和提高学生的语言运用能力,还要帮助学生养成良好的学习习惯,培养自学能力,教学中还应正确处理阅读与听、说、读、写、译的关系。开展丰富多彩的英语课外活动,提高学生学习英语的兴趣和积极性。要求学生主动参与,积极实践,不断积累,持之以恒。
四. 教学要求:
1) 词汇
领会式掌握2500个单词(其中复用式掌握的单词为1800个),以及由这些词构成的常用词组,并具有按照构词法识别生词的能力。
2) 阅读能力
能顺利阅读语言难度中等的一般性题材的文章,掌握中心大意以及说明中心大意的事实和细节,并能就文章的内容进行分析、推理、判断和综合概括领会作者的观点和态度。阅读速度达到每分钟60词。
3)听的能力
对题材熟悉,句子结构不太复杂、生词少、语速为每分钟100—120词的会话、谈话、报道、讲座,能掌握中心大意,抓住要点和细节领会讲话者的观点和态度,并能进行分析、推理和判断。
4) 说的能力
能就教材内容和一般性的听力材料进行回答和讨论,能就一般的社会生活话题进行简单的交谈讨论和发言,表达思想清楚,语音、语调基本正确。
5) 写的能力
能在阅读难度与课文相仿的书面材料时做笔记、回答问题,能就一定的提纲、表格或图示在半小时内写出80—100字的短文。内容完整,条理清楚,文理通顺。
6) 译的能力
能借助词典将难度略低于课文的英语短文译成汉语,理解正确,译文达意。能借助词典将内容熟悉的汉语文字材料译成英语,译文达意,无重大语言错误。
五. 教学学时:
《大学英语》精读II总学时为54课时,每周为3课时。
六. 教学内容:
《大学英语》精读教材第二册共有十个单元。每个单元由课文、生词、注释、练习和阅读五部分组成。课文全部选用原文材料,题材多样,内容丰富有趣,有一定的启发性。生词释义采用英汉结合方式。一般情况下,尽可能用英语释义。不太明确的再加注汉语,难以用英语解释清楚的则直接用汉语释义。
注释尽量用浅近的英语,主要介绍有关的背景知识,说明一些特殊语言现象,供学生预习时参考。本册的练习包括朗读和背诵(Reading Aloud and Memorizing)、课文理解(Comprehension of the Text)、词汇(Vocabulary)、构词(Word Building)、结构(Structure)、完形填空(Cloze)和翻译(Translation)等部分。朗读和背诵练习主要要求学生掌握句重音和意群,并熟记课文中有关段落。课文理解练习要求学生根据课文回答问题,有的则要求学生陈述自己的看法;有条件的班级可用一定的时间在教师引导下进行讨论,以提高学生的口头表达能力。词汇练习旨在巩固课文中所学的常用词和词组的用法。构词练习学生熟悉现代英语中的主要构词法,熟练掌握一些常用的前缀、后缀,借以扩大词汇量。结构练习的目的是使学生掌握一些英语常用句型,以提高学生的表达能力。完形填空练习是一种综合性的练习,分A、B、两篇。前者根据课文写成,主要围绕该科重点词和词组做语篇水平的操练;后者选自课外的文章。这一练习有一定难度,需要有教师予以启发引导。翻译联系每单元安排八句汉译英,可作为课外书面作业。
阅读练习旨在培养学生的阅读技能,每一(或二)单元编列一项技能,并配有一篇内容与课文相近而难度较浅的阅读材料;其中1-4级的大纲词汇加注汉语,放在前面,希望学生尽量掌握。教师应紧扣技能的培养,不必在语言现象的分析上花太多时间。新增的科普阅读文章(Supplementary Reading in Popular Science)主要供学生自学。
七. 课程考核方式:
《大学英语》精读II考核方式为考试。其中平时成绩占40%(包括出勤率、课堂表现、回答问题、作业),期末考试成绩占60%。
